Tom’s Town Unveils the Pendergast Lounge at Oct. 10 Grand Opening

Tom’s Town Distilling Co. Set to Unveil Pendergast Lounge with
Public Grand Opening on Oct. 10

Reimagined Space Offers a Cozy and Luxurious Retreat for Guests.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 2, 2019) - Tom’s Town Distilling Co. is excited to announce the launch of the
Pendergast Lounge. Previously known as The Vault, the recently redesigned and reimagined space and
its new name pay tribute to Tom Pendergast, the infamous political boss of Prohibition-era Kansas City. A
public grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10 from 6 – 9 p.m. The special event will include
live music from local jazz band, A La Mode, and a meet and greet with local artist, Hubbard Savage, who
painted six portraits that hang on the walls of the lounge.

The Pendergast Lounge, tucked away in the back of the award-winning distillery, underwent changes to
its décor to capture the vibrant energy of the Roaring 20s and its iconic art-deco style. The lounge is open
first come, first serve from 4-10 p.m. Monday, 4-11:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 2 p.m. – 12
a.m. Friday and Saturday.

New furniture that is reminiscent of the era includes deep leather couches, vintage-inspired high-back
chairs and velvet ottomans. The cozy, speakeasy-style room is also available for private events. It can
accommodate up to 50 people for a cocktail-style gathering or 35 people for a seated dinner. The planned
addition of monthly live music and jazz performances from local artists will transport guests back to the
opulent glamour of 1920s Kansas City and inspire conversation about the city’s famous culture.
“The Pendergast Lounge is a place that Tom Pendergast and his crew would feel very comfortable
drinking some of his finest creations,” said co-founder David Epstein, “He owned the world of Kansas City
nightlife, and we wanted to create a place where Kansas City could come party like it’s 1939! It’s all
about the booze, the laughter and a roaring fireplace. The ghost of Mr. Pendergast is watching over all of
us in the Pendergast Lounge, so come thirsty.”

Soft-mood lighting highlights a new mural on the south wall of the room. Guests can gather under the
Pendergast Lounge mural painted by Gary Wilks or by the gas fireplace while sipping on Tom’s Town
signature craft cocktails and enjoy the rich luxury of the 1920s inspired salon.
To incorporate the flair between Prohibition-era Kansas City and the modern art renaissance happening
in the Crossroads, local artist, Hubbard Savage, painted six portraits of famous Kansas Citians to
decorate the space. Portraits of Madame Annie Chambers, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Carry Nation, Charlie
Parker, Nell Donnelly Reed and “Bullet” Joe Rogan hang on the walls of the Pendergast Lounge as an
ode to Kansas City’s history and he people who helped give the city the nickname “Paris of the Plains”.
The lounge is available to rent for meetings, parties or gatherings. For more information on renting the
